Mike Watts was born in Swindon with his senior school education being in Weston-Super-Mare. After having studied Electronics and Electrical Engineering, in 1965 he joined International Computers and Tabulators (later to become ICL) where he was involved in software development for on-line database systems, and hardware development for memory testing equipment. Pursuing his interest in software, in 1969 he became Technical Director of a software company involved in Vehicle Scheduling, which was sold to the majority of UK leading freight organisations. He moved into the Microelectronics software market when in 1978 he joined Compeda Ltd as Project Manager for the Gaelic system - an IC design and verification tool developed at Edinburgh University. This tool provided graphics layout, verification, plotting and fracturing capabilities. Mike was responsible for all development, testing and support which covered customers throughout the world. In 1981 he joined Applicon, a leading international supplier of CAD/CAM systems, where he was Support Manager for all VLSI and PCB systems. He later moved into a sales role within Applicon as Major Accounts manager. After Applicon decided to concentrate more on Mechanical CAD rather than Electronics CAD, Mike became European Manager for Emerald Design Systems, a US company developing a very fast graphics editor for VLSI design, including plotting, verification and fracturing tools. In 1995, he became involved with the marketing and support for the Pinebush Technologies HyperPlot software, and increased the European user base from 2 to 60 companies, making it the industry standard for plotting IC designs within Europe. In his career Mike has exhibited vast technical, sales and solid organisational experience that are now an integral part of MM Solutions. As an officer of this solution based company, clients and customers can be assured of outstanding support in the mission to bring new technologies to Europe. |
